Singing lessons for adults who think they can’t

Adult Voice & Singing Lessons
in Chicago.

Most people who think they “can’t sing” have just never been taught how the voice works. These lessons are function-based, built on Somatic Voicework, so progress is something you can hear and repeat, not guesswork. Pop, musical theater, jazz, whatever you want to sing. Lessons are in person at the studio in Ukrainian Village.

How the lessons work

Less “support from the diaphragm,” more understanding your instrument.

We start by figuring out how your voice actually works right now, then build from there: breath, registration, resonance, and the coordination that lets you sing higher, longer, and with less strain. No mystery, no pushing through pain, just function you can feel and repeat.

Lessons are shaped around the music you want to sing, contemporary pop, musical theater, jazz, or simply rebuilding a voice that’s been quiet for years. Many adults arrive nervous and leave a first lesson genuinely surprised at what their voice can already do.

What your first few weeks build

Your real voice, sooner than you think.

LESSON 1

A full 50 minutes getting to the bottom of how your voice actually works. You leave understanding it better than ever, with real, specific things to practice.

FIRST FEW WEEKS

More range and less strain, breath that supports instead of fights you, and a song you can sing without pushing.

BY THE SEASON

A voice that feels like yours, freer and steadier, plus the technique to keep it healthy and growing.

Simple, honest pricing

Most students pay $100 per lesson.

Every lesson is 50 minutes, one-on-one, in person in Ukrainian Village (a 10-minute walk from the CTA Blue Line Division stop). Two ways to start: enroll for the semester and your first lesson is simply lesson one, or book a single first lesson to test the fit. No contracts you can’t exit, and if the first month isn’t working, you owe nothing more.

Who this is for

Beginners, returners, and the “I’m not a singer” crowd.

Adults of every level: total beginners, people who sang years ago and want it back, and singers polishing technique for auditions or performance. Teens are welcome too.

There are two ways to start. If you’re ready, enroll for the semester and your first lesson is simply lesson one: $100 per lesson, billed $400 every 4 weeks, with a first-month guarantee. If you’d rather test the fit, book a single first lesson for $125. Either way it’s a full 50 minutes, not a quick sample — it takes the whole lesson to really understand how your voice works and send you home with something real to practice. No audition, no judgment. Prefer to ask a question first? Just email me. Lessons are private and in person, Monday through Thursday, 3 to 9pm.

Taught by Nick Olynciw, trained in Somatic Voicework (the LoVetri Method) for contemporary singing. Lessons are patient, judgment-free, and built entirely around you.

Common questions

Quick answers about voice lessons.

I don’t think I can sing. Should I still book?

Yes. “I can’t sing” almost always means “I’ve never been shown how.” That’s exactly what these lessons fix.

What styles do you teach?

Contemporary singing, pop, rock, musical theater, jazz, and more. Somatic Voicework is built for exactly these styles, not just classical.

How do I start with voice?

Two ways: enroll for the semester and your first lesson is simply lesson one, or book a single first lesson ($125) to test the fit. Either way it’s a full 50 minutes, no pressure and no audition. If you’d rather ask a question first, just email me.
