From anywhere in Ukrainian Village or East Village you’re walking distance — most students get here in under 15 minutes on foot.
The 66 Chicago Ave bus stops at Hoyne, 30 seconds from the door. The 50 Damen bus drops you two blocks west.
Division and Damen stops are both a 10–15 minute walk. Coming home from the Loop? Get off at Division and walk south.
Free street parking on Hoyne and Erie almost any time — one of the few perks of a residential studio.
Ukrainian Village is the kind of neighborhood where half the block seems to own an instrument — working musicians, designers, people who played seriously in college and let it slide. The most common student here is an adult who wants the playing back without it feeling like school, and a weekly lesson they can walk to.
Lessons are private — one student, one teacher, 50 minutes per session. Pricing runs from a single lesson ($125) up to the Semester Pack ($1,600 for 16). The most common starting point is the 4-Lesson Pack at $450, four lessons over four to eight weeks to see if the fit’s right.
The easiest first step for piano is the $25 trial lesson — thirty minutes at the studio piano, no commitment. For voice, start with a free 15-minute intro call. Either way, you’ll know within one conversation whether this is your spot.

Yes, adult beginners are the studio’s most common student. Lessons are built around the music you actually want to play from the first session, whether you’ve never touched a key or you’re coming back after years away.
A 30-minute piano trial is $25. After that, a single 50-minute lesson is $125, and packs bring the rate down: $112.50 per lesson in the 4-pack, $106.25 in the 8-pack, and $100 in the 16-lesson Semester Pack. All pack credits are valid one year from purchase.
“He always provides repertoire that matches your current level while still challenging you to grow technically and musically. Excellent at guiding students through improvisation in a way that feels approachable and rewarding.”
“He’s done an amazing job at building my skills and understanding from the ground up. He paces what I am learning very well so that it can feel challenging but doable.”
“Nicholas was my daughter’s voice teacher… For her, this meant audition preparation for musical theatre and choir, but also allowing her to celebrate her love of Taylor Swift. He’s very perceptive at quickly getting to know a student as a unique individual.”
The studio holds 24 weekly lesson times. When fall enrollment opens, the list hears first — before ads, before anyone else.
